Deer Hunting Dec 2012 Worthington MA

I went deer hunting with my father in Massachusetts this year. I was fortunate this year, I got a doe permit for Zone 4N. I have a spot there that has produced some good does over the last few years. Every year I have hunted there with a doe permit I have been able to fill it.

This year I got a 130lb doe there. The DEP guy that registered the deer said this was the oldest deer he has seen taken in a few years. She only had one molar left and that was cracked.

How to Stop Plant Eating Deer

Colchester Connecticut has the same problems as most towns with hungry deer. Last spring, one deer came every night to eat my Hosta. I built noisy scare crows. I kept lights on. I sprayed perfume and smelly soap on or around the plants. I put human hair in my garden and nothing worked.

Then I used one of the trail timers with a built in camera. The flash that the camera uses to take night photographs scared her away for the rest of the growing season. It also took pictures of some opossum and skunks moving through the yard.
